So I Heard You Like Limericks...Judging in Progress
Hey everyone~ Welcome to the #Written-Imagination celebrations! The focus of this contest is to write a really neat limerick. A limerick is a short traditional style poem that's meant to be somewhat humourous. As I know that not everyone has experience with traditional poetry, I'm going to simplify the rules for what counts as a limerick for the benefit of making this contest open to everyone.
Here are our simplified rules for the limerick form:
It must be 5 lines onlyIt must use the rhyme scheme AABBAIt must be humourous or witty in tone
You can write on any subject or theme so long as it conforms to these rules.

Here's a couple of examples to help you out with what they should look like.

Be creative. You can pick a sin and write around the idea of it or create a character with that sin as his/her flaw. You can even branch off the sins to different emotions. For example, you could write about desire which comes from the deadly sin lust!
I hope to be help to post journals with examples of different ideas as to how you can write about the seven deadly sins as the contest goes on. They will be a kind of writing workshop for everyone!

If there are enough traditional colored pieces to judge them fairly, we will have traditional and digital as a category in the judging. Meaning all the digital will be judge and placed. And then traditional will be judged separately.

Macabre OC ContestAfter some debating, I have results!
First Place: $30 USD or the equivalent in dA points

Awarded because it is incredibly, incredibly creepy to look at... I actually can't look at the picture for more than a couple of seconds before I always want to navigate away.
Second Place: $20 USD or the equivalent in dA points

The design of this creature is so cool, while also being really appealing to look at! I like that he lacks legs.
Third Place: $10 USD or the equivalent in dA points

This is super eerie and interesting to look at at the same time, one of the few that lacked a definitive human form. Worm-like creatures are always very interesting.

The judging for this is currently in process, thank you for all the great submissions!

Another day and another contest at #Written-Imagination's week long birthday celebrations. This time our contest is looking for the quality construction of descriptive prose, not matter how flowery it happens to be (so long as we know what you're talking about and it conforms to rules). This means you show things that are happening to the audience with imagery, metaphor, simile, symbolism and all the other elements of figurative language.

You don't tell them by saying "it was sad" - you show them by saying "Tears spilled down her pale cheeks as the coffin descended into the freshly dug earth below." We want descriptive language to up our eyeballs and straining our brains!

So here are the rules for the contest:

It can be no more than 300 words but you are allowed 10% over the 300 word limit at max, any more and you'll be disqualified. There is no minimum word count.
Only two entries per person!
It must be descriptive prose. It can be as flowery and indepth as you like so long as we can understand the scene or subject being discussed which means you can use a little bit of tell to ground the reader with a reference point.
You MUST base your entry on one of these four provided themes:
- Fire
- Ice
- Flight
- Urban
Entries must be in by Friday of next week - 5th October
Prizes will be awarded to the best entries and randomly to participants who entered!

Just wondering~ You think its going to be done soon? I'm curious now. A lot of people entered right? I'd like to see who has quality prose, it could make for a good examination of concise quality...or something or other.
